What Coop had to say on the site that he was told just how safe this place was, that the war had not touched it much and that the town was on limits, was the same thing I encountered. At first, I was very hesitant to go off base but my NCOIC was insistent that I go into town with him. It was quite an experience!
I’ve got to say hi to the Aussie friends (maybe someone will find this site) I made during that time. They were great people and made the stay there an awesome experience. Also, Spec 4 Ralph Calger if you are out there, let me know. He was the child’s orphanage best friend back then. Our guys did some wonderful things there.
